We continue our 2 part series about the fun things that you in and around the town of Akumal. This laid-back fishermen’s village where Gate48 is located has fine white sandy beaches, coral reef, warm waters booming with marine life and several restaurants serving freshly made Mexican food. Here are 3 more places and activities to visit during your stay with us.

ATV TOUR

Would you like to experience the joy of driving through some of the most vibrant wildlife in all of Mexico?  Then try a local Akumal ATV tour and enjoy the adrenaline-inducing excitement that comes with driving an all terrain vehicle through the dense, lush jungle, surrounded by species of monkeys. Expert guides will take you through some of the most interesting indigenous sights and sounds in the local area, and the many difficult, rocky paths that you manoeuver down will to add to the challenge.

DOLPHIN DISCOVERY IN AKUMAL

This place is an 8 minute drive from the Gate48 residence in a region of natural preservation. This is your chance to meet with and swim with dolphin and make some new aquatic friends! It’s a very family-friendly experience and completely immersive dolphin experience, for everyone in your family regardless of age. There is a profound joy in swimming with one of nature’s most intelligent and friendly marine inhabitants. The dolphins that are onsite were born under human supervision and trained. You will realize the importance of sustaining the lives of dolphins after you’ve spent some time with them.

HALF MOON BAY   

White, soft sands and blue waters in a coastal setting. This is the place to get up close and personal with sea turtles, sea urchins, squid and plenty of fish. There are many recreational outlets with everything you can discover on the shore itself. You can take a walk along the shore or go for a hike just near the coast. It’s one of the best snorkeling spots on the Riviera Maya, as well as a good place for scuba diving, paddle boarding or kayaking. The islands have plentiful hard and soft coral, low water levels and great visibility for viewing the high numbers of fish.
