Tulum is only a 25 minute drive from Gate48 and has a fine selection of terrific beach clubs, many of which provide access for the entire family. So if you are looking to plan a day trip where you can take in some sun, relax in a hammock or beach chair and enjoy some good food this guide will help you get started.
Here is a list of some of the best beach clubs in Tulum, along with a brief description of each one.
Ana y Jose Beach Club: a great family place and the kids will love the playground. The palm trees provide ample shade form the hot sun.
Coco Tulum Beach Club: spacious with many hammocks, bean bags and beach chairs. They have unique cocktails on their menu along with good food, and the design of the place has a definite Miami-style, with many well known DJs booked here to enhance the vibe for those who wish to dance.
El Paraiso Beach Club: located near the ruins of Tulum, it boasts a great view. The shallow water makes it ideal for kids to play in, and the many beach beds are available for those who wish kick back and relax.
MINA at Maria Del Mar Tulum: a hybrid restaurant-bar located in the Marina Del Mar Boutique Hotel overlooking the Mexican Caribbean Sea. Their food, featuring many seafood dishes, is cooked over an open grill, while the restaurant has an open-air section. Kids ages 12 and over are welcome and it’s open daily from morning until night.
Pancho Villa Beach Club: notable because of the Tulum ruins looking down from above. Their menu offers a variety of dishes, and they have hammocks for use by clients who wish to lay back in authentic Mexican style.
Papaya Playa Projec: chic and bohemian vibe, this place has a double-decker bar above the beach, a semi-amphitheater and a 360-degree wooden tower. The beach area has many sun beds and shaded hanging beds, known as palapitas. This beach club is famous for its monthly Full Moon parties which often feature big name international DJs playing for a diverse crowd of local and foreign visitors. Definitely geared towards a more mature crowd that is looking for some late night fun.
Ziggy’s Beach Club: located at The Beach Tulum Hotel, they have beachfront barbecues on Sundays, serving tasty food and delicious cocktails. If you are staying for the day make sure to ask for sunbeds for you and your traveling companions.
